Michelle arrived at the University of Arizona Hillel Foundation in 1992 after working for six years at the University of Michigan Hillel. She earned a BA in sociology and women’s studies and an MA in social work from the University of Michigan. She loves working with students, lay leaders and the community of Hillel (c'mon, she's been doing this for over 22 years - there must be some secrets to learn here). She is here in Tucson with her husband, Rick, and their two children, Avigail and Eitan, who attend the Tucson Hebrew Academy. Her door is usually open and she loves when students stop by to schmooze – the trick is to catch her between meetings, phone calls, emails and others waiting to see her – but really, DROP BY.

Charae graduated from Chapparal College. Prior to Hillel, Charae was the District Director for an agency that worked with the developmentally and mentally challenged. As District Director she oversaw the ins and outs of setting up homes, jobs, schooling, Dr. appointments etc. for her clients in the Southern Arizona region. Charae REALLY enjoys reality t.v. and spending time with her husband, Steve, and step-daughter, Sophie. Charae loves chatting with students and being the surrogate mom. Stop by the front desk and say HI.

Robyn Schwager graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Psychology too many years ago to count. For the past 20+ years while raising a family (3 daughters: Rachel is a student at American University in DC, Erica attends Bradley University in Peoria, IL and Melissa is at Butler University in Indianapolis) she has been an active volunteer in the Tucson community. She rejoins the work force now, before the “empty nest syndrome” has a chance to set in. There is usually food in her office (especially Friday when she has homemade challah rolls) so stop by and grab a nosh.

Laura graduated from the University of Arizona in 2005 with a degree in English, and she is excited to return to her alma mater to work at Hillel! Laura enjoys music, cooking, traveling and all sorts of new adventures. Her door is always open, so stop by and say hi.

Liraz is here for two years from Israel and she is looking forward to getting to know you. In Israel she was a student, just like you, and now she has a BA in communication. For the last year she worked with kids as a guiding coordinator in a youth movement.She loves reading and writing, listening to music, being with friends, traveling, shopping (who doesn’t love shopping?) and getting to know new people. Come by and say hello.

Ada Lewkowicz
Ada came to Tucson from South Africa in 1994. She and her husband, Rabbi Billy, have four children. Ada began working at Hillel in 2003 and can be found adding and subtracting at the front desk once a week. Be sure to stop by and meet her because she’s the one who writes the checks.
